Gee time flies, February already, some things have changed but others, despite efforts have fallen behind.
The coke and the 30kg goals have not even started. My major problem is the tomorrow excuse, at 7 am when it is raining, I really really don't want to go for a walk. So the 'I'll start tomorrow' comes into play. I'm not sleeping too well at the moment so it is even easier to go back to sleep especially during holidays. The problem is tomorrow never comes! But in order to be 30kg lighter that walk needs to happen!! With winter coming it's only going to get harder. Yes I could put on a jumper or take an umbrella, but bed is so much more inviting!!!!
So I'm just going to bite the bullet and do it. We will try different things to get over this, whether it's a different exercise, bike or swim if the weather is playing dirty! A challenge, calories, distance, time, we are also trying to get to bed earlier.
On the other hand, things have changed, 1 piece of clothing sewed( pj pants with music notes and frogs) and another one on the way( a cross over top for work). A painting painted, ( a picture of wicked) some auslan learned both with miss m and by myself. Most of my students coming back so goal of $50,000 on the way as well as another afternoon full of new students from a school I teach at.
So, by the end of February I hope
1. Lose 5 kg
2. Be teaching, 6 students a day
3. Save $500 in my saving account
4. Start dealing with some of the garbage
5. Clean out the corner boxes
6. Start practice for at least 20 minutes before I start teaching

Thirty things day 4 and 5!!
Best laid plans!! Totally off the rails the last 48 hours. Distraction and procrastination are my worst habits atm. "must do that" " oh yeah what about that" and the classic " can't be bothered, I'll do it tomorrow. The problem is when you say 'tomorrow' every day then nothing gets done!!
The next week or so looks the same. TaTo and family are here. I forget when I am not working how much children demand attention. Ta age 6 and To age 3 never stop!! Days are full of guinea pig cuddles, ball games, painting, drawing, computer games, swimming. How do u fit anything else in??
So I decided, on 15 minutes, giving myself timeout during the days. 15 minutes to send that email, 15 ideas for more students, 15 minutes to work on that room. After all do that four times during the day, and I have spend an hour on that goal!
So the alarm, is set for the walk tomorrow. And the to do list about to be written. Hopefully by the end of tomorrow I can feel back on track

Thirty things day 3 and an unexpected start
Continued from yesterday,
4) Work
The aim for January is to have enough students to support myself, at this stage the goal is 40 paying students which means approx 8-10 every weekday. Need to confirm if my current students are coming back and start the search for new ones. Doing this will allow me to save for other things on the bucket list. Need to update other business related things as well business plan, marketing plans, studio policies. All need revising. As well as music sorted, creative ideas to conger up, instruments to get reacquainted with and syllabus to be written. Lots to do!!! So back to work tomorrow!!
Overall an ok day, got a little cleaning done. As well as a swim, two loads of washing, a hour of grass for the guinea pigs and an unexpected sewing lesson from my mother!

30 things day 2: 2012 plans
Rough plans done. Too long to write it all here so below is just January. Decided to start with the ones that will take the longest to achieve, and the ones that will be most helpful later on. Going to need to whole year to save $5000 or to lose 30kg. But a day at palm beach can be done in december. So, By the end of January i hope to
1. Lose 5kg
By walking everyday in January and by eating clean. Previously my walking has been sporadic but lately after injuries to my knee and calves I have given up completely. But having found the cause of my injuries and hence being able to prevent it. It can no longer be an excuse!!
2. Get rid of the coke
Coke, as in soft drink, not the other more illegal kind. For the last 12 years I have been addicted, don't know if it is the Sugar or the caffeine that I live for, although possibly both, but I am addicted. I know that those 30 kg will not go without kicking this addiction so kick it I must. The plan is to slowly cut down over the month tried cold turkey several times so this time a different approach. The plan is to always drink less than yesterday. Cutting down by a glass (about 250mls) a week. yes I know it's slow but we are talking about a daily addiction here for 12 years so i decided to do it gradually.I know that of all my goals this will be the hardest, the one I am likely to slip up on. But I will try my hardest not to beat my self up above them.
3. Clean / organized room
Decided to get this out of the way, it's frustrating to not find things in a hurry, or when I need them. Frustrating to bump into stuff in the dark. 29 years full of stuff. Since i do part of my teaching at home this includes work as well as personal stuff. This one has already been started but as usual never finished. So I am going to deal with one thing every day, being on holidays I have more time to get this done. The age old questions of do I use it? Do I want it? And where on earth do I put it? As well as how much stuff do I really need? So one step at a time.
My body is wanting sleep so part 2 tomorrow.

Thirty things day 1!
Yes I know that 2012 doesn't start until the day after tomorrow but I thought I would start on my 29th birthday. Give myself a full year!!
Today I officially turn 29. Spend the day with a few friends shopping and then the beach! One if those friends included Miss M who is deaf, or hearing impaired as she would call it. Spending the day with her made me realize why how difficult it was for her to communicate. Simple conversations made harder, through no fault of her own, not to mention other things humanity needs to/ wants to hear music, ambulance sirens, guinea pig squeaks of trouble, all made harder if not impossible. I can't fix her ears but I can make communication a little easier for her! Hence the bucket list no 11 above.
Tomorrow: I hope to take time out and roughly plan 2012. Not concrete plans 2011 has taught me that life happens and throws obstacles, but rough plans for the year. How to get where I want from where I am right now!

30 things in 2012:
What to say... What to say.... I have never been a good writer, never had a way with words so if anything is misspelt or doesn't make sense you know why. Put me in front of a classroom full of kids and I'm fine i can explain the most complex musical concept!! But written words were never my strong point. Good thing for auto correct!!
So why blog? reflecting on things over the last few years I have realized that things have got out of control. I love my job and my classroom full of kids. But I have neglected myself in the process. This is the journey to get back on track before I turn 30!!! Hopefully, writing it down will keep me accountable through the year! I don't care if no one reads it. This is my year to be selfish. Tomorrow I turn 29. I have a year to get back on track. My hope is that in a year I will have done all of the following.
1. Loose 30 kg to be a realistic weight
2. See wicked again
3. Deal with the garbage of the past
4. Learn to sew
5. Get my license
6. Meet some unknown family members
7. Save $5000
8. Get rid of the coke ( the drinking kind not the illegal one)
9. Get my own space
10. Learn to cook
11, have a full Auslan conversation with Miss M
12. Be able to run 10 kms
13. Spend the day at palm beach
14. Go visit Miss J
15. Support myself financially
16. Fill my spare change jar
17. Clean and organize my space
18. Watch my favorite show start to finish
19 Go visit TaTo
20. Learn to paint
21 sort out finances
22. Play in a musical
23. Volunteer at the local Guinea pig shelter
24. Learn to ride a bike
25. Get my scoot license
26. Learn to play simple piano
27. Get to grade 5 with flute
28. Be comfortable at church
29. Get rid of my fat clothes and finally
30. Celebrate my 30 birthday
A lot I know but I figure I may as well shoot for the stars and miss then aim for the gutter and hit!!!
